Sneauxmageddon 2014 - Part 1

Last week we were out of school on Friday for a snow day.  A SNOW DAY! While the rest of the country laughed, SW Louisianna filled their Facebook feeds with tons of hilarious pictures of microscopic snowmen and the like.  People not from this area don't realize how that kind of weather (lots of frozen rain and ice) really is dangerous and scary around these parts.

The sleet collected a bit and sort of resembled snow.

The flag was frozen in sheets of ice.  So bizarre.
Gianna thought Max needed to be warmed up.  She said he looks like and man from Israel.

Before the sleet really started - we were going to drive up the road to have King Cake with our friends.  Our plans were foiled by our completely frozen van.  COMPLETELY. Could not open one door. So strange.

We had a little fun with Gianna's Elsa doll...

We've been singing Frozen for over a month now and it's so fun for these Southern kids to get a little taste of it in real life.

SNOW MUCH FUN!

We peeled sheets of ice off the car and Gianna had fun smashing them.  Looked like a
Greek Wedding. :)

Christmas Cookie & Ornament Party

We were invited to a cookie and ornament decorating party right before Christmas by some of Gianna's 'big girl' friends. It was so cute and creative.

Liz made little festive milk jugs out of snapple bottles she had lying around.
There were little bisque snowmen ornaments to paint.
And of course super-yummy sugar cookies to decorate.
They worked diligently on their creations.

I tried VERY hard to let Gianna do her own thing.
(I'm sad to say It drives me NUTS!!!)

She's much more focused than she used to be...that's for sure.

She really did have quite a good time.
She was seeing a song from Frozen in the above picture.
Holy cow - she hasn't stopped singing the songs yet.

And a half....

Gianna turned 5 and a half on January 1st.  I love that little mile marker. She spend the day planning her 6th birthday.  Geez Louise - this kid is a PLANNER.

I made one of those Flipagram slideshoes that are so popular these days.  Just used pics from my phone and FB.  So fun.  (I should say that Gianna is not singing the song in the slideshow -- it does sound like her - but it's Connie Talbot.)
